Tron founder invests in Trump’s crypto project
Justin Sun, the creator of the Tron platform, has become the largest investor in Donald Trump’s crypto project, World Liberty Financial, purchasing 2 billion WLFI tokens for $30 million. He announced this in his microblog.
“We are excited to invest $30 million in World Liberty Financial as the largest investor. Tron is committed to making America great again and leading innovation,” Justin Sun wrote.
Since mid-October, WLFI token sales had been sluggish, as members of the crypto community were hesitant to buy tokens due to restrictions preventing sales to non-U.S. citizens and unaccredited investors in America. Additionally, the tokens could not be resold.
Prior to Sun’s major acquisition, only $20 million worth of WLFI had been sold. Even after the Tron founder’s investment, trading volume for the token reached just 17% of the developers’ target of $300,000.
World Liberty Financial is a DeFi platform introduced by the family of newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump in September.
