The Supreme Court of Russia has named the most popular crypto-fraud schemes in the country
Judge of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation Evgeny Rudakov shared statistics and practice of considering cases related to cryptocurrency crimes.

He noted that the vast majority of such crimes in Russia are related to fraud, and also voiced cases of violence used to seize crypto assets, TASS writes. According to Rudakov, digital assets are most often stolen from citizens through fraudulent investment schemes, false provision of exchange services, cyber fraud and phishing attacks.
"Most cryptocurrency crimes are fraudulent in nature. Criminals impersonate exchanges, investment platforms or wallets to gain access to funds," he said.
The judge also reported that there are extremely serious crimes in judicial practice, including kidnapping wallet owners with subsequent coercion to hand over passwords or private keys. These cases fall into the category of serious crimes, where cryptocurrency becomes the object of criminal robbery, extortion and even human trafficking if the victim was held in custody until data was obtained from them. Rudakov emphasized that disputes related to cryptocurrencies are already regularly considered in Russian courts.
Earlier, the director of the legal department of the Central Bank of Russia, Andrei Medvedev, said that the country could adopt a law providing for serious fines for payments in cryptocurrencies on the territory of the state.
