A state duma deputy suggested creating a strategic bitcoin reserve
A deputy of the State Duma of Russia from the "Novye Lyudi" faction, Anton Tkachev, proposed to Finance Minister Anton Siluanov to create a strategic Bitcoin reserve. This was reported by TASS.
Tkachev noted that traditional currency reserves, such as yuan, US dollars, and euros, are subject to changes in value, sanctions, and inflation, which pose a threat to Russia's financial stability.
"Modern challenges require the implementation of not only new payment systems but also alternative reserve storage instruments that are not dependent on individual countries," the document sent by the deputy to the head of the Ministry of Finance states.
According to the official, Bitcoin has demonstrated one of the highest returns among all assets.
"This makes Bitcoin not only a tool for preserving value but also an opportunity for significant profit," he emphasized.
Thus, according to Tkachev's conclusion, the Ministry of Finance should assess the feasibility of creating a cryptocurrency reserve and, if approved, submit the relevant initiative to the Russian government.
