Scammers Deceive Russians Out of Money Through Cryptocurrencies - Ministry of Internal Affairs
The Department for Combating the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies (UBC) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reported that scammers have started deceiving citizens of the country using cryptocurrencies. This was reported by the press service of the agency.

According to the UBC of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, one such case was registered in Moscow. The perpetrators convinced a woman to dictate the code from an SMS message, blocked her account on the "Gosuslugi" portal, and sent her a message with a fake "technical support" number. In turn, the fake support employee directed the woman to a specialist who supposedly works in the Department for Combating Scammers. This person claimed that the woman's money could be stolen and recommended that she convert her funds into digital assets and transfer them to a cryptocurrency wallet.
While registering on the crypto exchange, the scammers convinced the woman to stream the entire process on her smartphone camera, which allowed them to seize her savings.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation warned Telegram messenger users that the number of cryptocurrency fraud cases in mini-games ("tapping" games) had increased.
