Владелец белки по кличке Арахис Марк Лонго и его адвокаты направили криптобирже Binance письмо с требованием прекратить использование фото и имени питомца, которые зарегистрированы как торговая марка.

Longo stated on his social media he will defend my creative work and will not tolerate the unauthorized use of his intellectual property.

Lawyers are already working on the materials against Binance. They note that Longo has been promoting the trademarks PEANUT THE SQUIRREL, P’NUT THE SQUIRREL, and PNUT since April 2017 in educational and entertainment materials, environmental protection projects, and fundraisers.  The use of Peanut's images and name in cryptocurrency projects involving fundraising is misleading users. The letter states that the owner has already received complaints about tokens dedicated to the squirrel.  Buyers of these assets are given the impression that the animal's owner is connected to these projects or has consented to the use of the protected materials.

It's noteworthy that this month Longo launched his own meme coin, Justice for Peanut (JFP).

Peanut was a popular animal on social media, with over 900,000 followers on his page. In October, the squirrel, along with a pet raccoon named Fred, was confiscated by New York State Department of Environmental Conservation officials, citing laws prohibiting keeping wild animals as pets, and subsequently euthanized.
