Over 2,000 "gray" miners to be tried in Irkutsk region
Energy companies in Irkutsk have filed 2,113 lawsuits against underground miners who illegally used electricity for cryptocurrency mining. This was reported by the press service of the company "Irkutskenergosbyt."

It is noted that as of November 1, 2024, regulations on mining came into effect in Russia, requiring legal entities and individual entrepreneurs engaged in cryptocurrency mining to register in a special registry of the Federal Tax Service (FTS). However, some entrepreneurs did not comply with this requirement, leading to the disconnection of these miners from the grid starting in December in the Irkutsk region.
"As of January 1, 2025, there are 1,348 court decisions made in favor of energy companies that have already come into force. More than 400 lawsuits are still under consideration. Additionally, 104 lawsuits were settled before the court's decision was made. We intend to continue working in this direction," said Andrey Kharitonov, director of "Irkutskenergosbyt."
Earlier, we reported that law enforcement detained four individuals in Russia suspected of creating an illegal payment system called Rapidpay, which serviced cryptocurrency exchange points.
