Russian Ministry proposed to postpone the launch of the digital ruble
Retail networks in Russia need at least two years to prepare for the launch of operations with the digital ruble. This was stated by the ministry in response to the draft law on starting settlements in the national currency, as reported by "Izvestia".
The agency noted that the deadlines set by the Central Bank are "excessively urgent" and create risks for trade.
"It is currently impossible to adequately assess these risks, as there are still no rules for the operation and functioning of the digital ruble," the Ministry of Industry and Trade added.
The ministry pointed out that delaying the launch of the digital ruble by two years would allow businesses to streamline all processes: refine software, make changes to information systems, conduct testing, and train personnel.
Earlier, representatives of the Central Bank reported that retail outlets that do not have internet connectivity will not be required to accept payments using the digital ruble.
