Mining will be banned for the entire year in two regions of Russia

It is noteworthy that these regions already had a temporary restriction on mining, but it only applied to the autumn-winter period due to high electricity consumption, but now the authorities have decided to extend it until March 15, 2031. The initiative was supported by the government commission for the development of electric power and proposed by the regional leadership. Tsivilev also noted that such measures are already in effect in the Irkutsk region, where a complete ban on mining was introduced on April 7, and earlier - a partial restriction during peak periods of load on the regional energy system.

In total, crypto mining has been banned in ten Russian regions this year. The decision was made due to the tension in the power systems of the southeastern regions of Siberia, where there is a shortage of electricity. The restrictions are intended to stabilize energy consumption and direct available capacity to the needs of the population and industry.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, Alexey Chekunkov, stated that the excess natural gas in Russia, remaining after the reduction of supplies to Europe, could be used to extract digital assets.
