Excess gas in Russia proposed to be used in mining
The head of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, Alexey Chekunkov, said that the excess natural gas in Russia, remaining after the reduction of supplies to Europe, could be used to extract digital assets, TASS reports.

According to him, instead of leaving resources idle, it is possible to build special power plants and use them to mine digital assets. The minister noted that crypto can be mined on one's own resources, in particular on gas. The surplus of fuel was formed after Russia stopped supplying it to European countries. He pointed out that crypto miners only need to install gas mining plants, which can later be used for mining.
He stressed that it is important not to take away electricity from the population and businesses, especially in regions where there is a deficit or peak loads. This limitation has become a key condition for the possible development of the industry.
Earlier, the director of the global markets department at Sberbank, Alexander Zozulya, said that the bank plans to act as a liquidity provider and market maker on regulated platforms where the circulation of cryptocurrencies will be permitted.
