Illegal mining farm busted in Irkutsk region
A raid was conducted on a mining farm in the Irkutsk region, resulting in its shutdown due to its lack of registration in the Federal Tax Service's register. This was reported by the press service of the Irkutsk Electric Grid Company.
Investigators from the regional Investigative Committee and energy officials visited the farm to examine the site, as the electricity consumption schedule showed signs of mining activity. The farm was located in a small industrial area behind the "City of Masters" market in Irkutsk. It was owned by a legal entity that was not registered in the Federal Tax Service's register.
It is worth noting that since November 1, regulations regarding mining have been in effect in Russia. All legal entities and individual entrepreneurs are required to provide the Federal Tax Service with information about mined assets and the crypto addresses used. According to specialists' conclusions, the farm consumed over 600,000 kWh of electricity monthly, which is comparable to the energy consumption of 80-100 private homes.
The owner of the mining farm was warned that he must legalize his activities and was disconnected from the power grid.
