The location of the device was the Oficiul Poștal 1 branch in Tulcea, which marked the beginning of a large-scale national program to create a network of cryptomats. As part of the initiative, such terminals are planned to be installed in more than five thousand branches of the company throughout the country. With the help of the new equipment, users can now top up their accounts on the Bitcoin Romania platform by depositing cash, as well as directly convert Romanian lei (RON) into bitcoins. This makes access to cryptocurrencies easier and more understandable for those who have not previously encountered digital assets.

The immediate plans include expanding the cryptomat network by installing devices in post offices in other cities, including Alexandria, Piatra Neamt, Botosani and Nadlac. Posta Romana CEO Mihai Rusu emphasized that the introduction of innovative technologies is part of the company's strategy to adapt to modern customer requirements.

According to him, such steps will significantly improve the availability of crypto services, especially in regions of the country where the possibilities of working with digital assets are limited or completely absent. He also noted that the launch of crypto ATMs is an important stage in the digital transformation of the state post office, aimed at popularizing cryptocurrencies and increasing the financial literacy of the population.

Earlier, the head of the Czech Ministry of Justice, Pavel Blažek, announced his resignation after it became known about the sale of the first cryptocurrency worth about $45 million, which had previously been confiscated from Tomas Jirikovsky, a man convicted of organizing illegal trade on the darknet.
