Demand for mining equipment in Russia triples - survey
Companies in Russia's mining industry have reported that the demand for cryptocurrency mining equipment in the country has increased two to three times. This information is highlighted by the publication Kommersant, citing responses from surveyed participants.
BitRiver, an operator of mining data centers, noted a twofold increase in demand for large orders of computing equipment from individuals and legal entities in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter. Other respondents indicated that in the second and third quarters, clients were ordering about 30 devices per week, but from November, this number increased to 600.
This surge in demand for equipment has created a shortage, leading to rising prices for the technology. According to Alexander Peresichan, the director of Tehnobit, the most efficient devices for Bitcoin mining in Russia are currently considered to be the Bitmain Antminer S21 Pro, MicroBT Whatsminer M66S 310T, Canaan AvalonMiner A1566, and Innosilicon A11 Pro. The average cost of these devices is at least 400,000 rubles.
Earlier, the ACRA rating agency presented a list on its official website of regions in Russia where it is most profitable to engage in cryptocurrency mining.
