Bitfinex clients to get back bitcoins stolen in 2016
The U.S. government has been ordered to return bitcoins stolen from clients of the cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex during a hacker attack in 2016. This was reported by the portal Happycoin.club.

As a result of the platform's breach, the hacker Ilya Lichtenstein stole 119,756 BTC belonging to users. However, U.S. law enforcement officials managed to seize 108,068 BTC worth $10.7 billion at current rates. A court ruling has mandated that law enforcement must transfer the confiscated assets to Bitfinex and inform the victims that they can receive compensation.
In addition, the Department of Justice is required to create a website for the affected individuals, providing information related to the return of the cryptocurrency.
Earlier, we reported that the U.S. Department of Justice received permission from a federal court to sell 69,370 bitcoins worth about $6.58 billion, confiscated from the darknet marketplace Silk Road.
