It was established that the bank employee stole the funds from the client’s safety deposit box. When the bank noticed the disappearance, it turned out that the perpetrator had been removing the money from the vault in parts, with the last portion of 35 million rubles being spent entirely on cryptocurrency purchases.

The man was detained by officers of the Moscow Central Administrative District Police Department at the airport as he attempted to flee the country with the stolen money. A criminal case has been initiated against him under Part 4 of Article 158 of the Russian Criminal Code, "Theft on an especially large scale."

Earlier, we reported that law enforcement officers in Lancashire, UK, seized 48 million dollars in crypto assets from a group accused of Bitcoin fraud.
