A special commission will combat illegal miners in Irkutsk region

A special commission will operate in the Irkutsk region to fight against illegal miners. This is reported by the Investing.com portal.

During an operational meeting, it was established that the new body will include representatives from the local prosecutor's office, the Federal Tax Service, as well as energy officials and representatives from the Ministry of Housing Policy of the region. The commission will focus on identifying illegal miners and operators of mining infrastructure who are working without special permission.

Additionally, the commission will take on the adaptation and implementation of legislative changes to regional conditions to facilitate the work of companies operating in the legal field.

It should be noted that the Irkutsk region is one of the most popular areas among miners due to its low electricity tariffs. There are also a large number of so-called "gray" miners in the region, who illegally connect cryptocurrency mining equipment to the power grids without paying for the consumed electricity.
