About 150 Applications from New Miners Submitted to the Federal Tax Service of Russia Since the Beginning of the Month

The Federal Tax Service (FTS) of Russia has received approximately 150 applications for registration in the new cryptocurrency mining registry since November 1. This was reported by the head of the service, Daniil Egorov, according to RBC.

Recall that at the beginning of this month, provisions of the law on mining came into effect in Russia, along with a law regulating experimental settlements in cryptocurrency for foreign trade transactions. Now, companies, individual entrepreneurs, and individuals can legally mine cryptocurrency in the country. The FTS has been tasked with overseeing the industry, and prospective miners are required to provide the service with data on mined assets, cryptocurrency wallet addresses used, and other identifiers.

According to Egorov, the number of applications is currently limited as the process is just beginning.

«Everything is going quite quietly and calmly. In my opinion, this is even good. This is a complex issue involving several phenomena at once: the registration of conditional data centers for processing and the registration of the miners themselves. There is also a question of interaction with the Ministry of Energy regarding energy management. This is a separate issue that needs to be learned: where mining is permitted, where it is not, and where there are overloads in the energy system. In some places, miners are even using gas—they are connected and generating electricity through gas», - Egorov added.

Earlier, the rating agency AKRA published a list of regions in Russia on its official website where it is most profitable to engage in cryptocurrency mining.
