One of the founders of the Ripple platform, Chris Larsen, denied information that his company sponsored the Change the Code campaign, organized by environmental organizations together with Greenpeace.

This initiative has been in place for several years and is aimed at convincing the developers of the first cryptocurrency to switch from the energy-intensive Proof of Work (PoW) consensus algorithm to more environmentally friendly solutions. Larsen has now indicated that he supported this campaign on a personal level, and it cannot be perceived as an official position of Ripple. He also noted that in recent years, the situation with energy consumption in Bitcoin mining has changed significantly for the better. As an example, he cited a study by one of the world's leading universities, which indicated that the share of renewable energy sources in the extraction of the first cryptocurrency has increased significantly.

"My goal was to understand whether Bitcoin could become a direct threat to the planet's ecosystem. The initiative did not achieve its goals - and that's okay. It is important to emphasize: Ripple did not participate in this project in any way. At the same time, I am glad that now there is a "Satoshi Skull" - a symbol that reminds us of responsibility to nature and the importance of technological innovation," Larsen wrote on his social networks.

Recall that the installation called "Satoshi's Skull" was created by environmentalists from electronic junk, wires and printed circuit boards. It was presented as part of an environmental campaign against BTC energy consumption.

Earlier, Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse announced the end of regular publication of quarterly reports on the movement of XRP tokens.
