According to the published data, the number of detected cases of energy theft increased from 610 (2018) to 2,397 (2024), an increase of about 300%, as reported by local media.

To combat illegal digital asset mining, TNB conducts joint operations with the police and authorities, including regular raids. The company also installs smart meters in residents’ homes that transmit real-time data and uses energy analysis algorithms to identify underground mining farms.

"We work with government agencies to ensure fair and sustainable resource distribution. This is critical to grid stability and fairness for all users," TNB said.

Earlier it was reported that in Anapa, law enforcement officers detained a fraudster who stole 126 million rubles from eight people under the pretext of investing in cryptocurrency mining.
